“It Takes A Village”

 

A unique look at the challenges that exist for young girls desiring an education in rural Kenya and the importance of sponsorship programs that guide them to a brighter future.  

 

The film shares the touching and moving relationship between Stephanie and a young girl  named Anne, who she began sponsoring shortly after her first trip to Kenya.  

During her second trip to Kenya, Stephanie met Anne for the first time,  further learning what was needed to provide a deeper level of support.

 

As subsequent trips to Kenya took place, the relationship between Anne and Stephanie grew and so did Stephanies passion for helping other young girls with their education and helping them realize their true gifts and how to share them with the world.

As Anne gets set to graduate secondary school (high school) in 2019, many obstacles still exist. "It Takes A Village" shares stories of others who received an education and have gone on to give back to their community as well as highlights the struggles that continue to exist due to poverty, early marriage, harassment, pregnancy and other carried cultural practices.
